A Fine Japanese Ivory Netsuke of a man with a cane and lantern finely carved by an expert artist signed on foot. Measuring approx. 2.5 inches or 6 centimeters tall in very fine condition. An exquisite carved Ivory image of Guanyin with the Buddha atop all hand carved from a very large tusk Measuring 5.5 in diameter 15 inches tall and 18 inches tall with stand. Signed with carved symbol on bottom. A fine example would make a nice addition to any collection.

Arthur William BEST 
1859 - 1935 Arthur William Best was born in Mount Pleasant, Canada on July 17, 1859. He and his brother Harry attended public school in Mount Pleasant and were members of a small band. Arthur played the cornet; Harry, the violin. When the band broke up in Oregon, the brothers learned to paint before moving to San Francisco in 1895. Arthur and his wife Alice established the Best Art School at 1625 California Street and a residence at 309 Broderick. He was a staff artist for the San Francisco Examiner (1904-06). Arthur was commissioned by Southern Pacific Railroad to paint pictures of the Southwest and Mexico for travel and tourist publicity in 1905. Many of his oils and watercolors were destroyed by the earthquake and fire of 1906. His landscapes include depictions of the Arizona desert, Grand Canyon and the Sierra Nevada. He died in Oakland on January 26, 1935. Member: San Francisco Art Ass'n; Berkeley League of Fine Arts; Bohemian Club. Biography

Landscape painter, illustrator. Born in Medoc, MO on January 9, 1879, Sayre worked in the lead and zinc mines and manufactured leather goods before settling on an art career. He remained a self-taught artist except for two months with J. Laurie Wallace in Omaha. His first creative job as an artist was an employee of and engraving company in Houston, TX. Ill with diphtheria, he moved to California in 1917. Traveling to California by train, he was enchanted with the Southwest desert and vowed to return which he did in 1919. For three years he lived in Arizona working for a mining company as a bookkeeper while painting in his leisure. Upon returning to California in 1922, he held his first art exhibition of 64 watercolors in San Francisco; later that year he exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In that year he moved to Los Angeles and two years later built a home and studio in Glendale where he remained for the rest of his life. Sayre is one of California’s best known painters of the deserts and the Southwest. Chinese export Canton porcelain platter circa 1840. A large and beautifully hand painted decorated example in excellent condition no chips cracks repairs etc. some minor glaze flaws bubbles on edge. Measuring approx. 19.5 inches by 16 inches.

An exqusite example of Japanese imari in a coverd bowl with intricate hand painted designs of dragons pheonix birds shishi and roosters artists signed "Kutani". Richly embelished with 24k gold decorations. In excellent condition no chips or cracks some minor glaze crazing in interior of lid overall the condition is incredible. Measuring approx 10.5inches wide by 5 inches tall a masterpiece of museum quality.

Ming Dynasty porcelain wine storage jar with hand painted dragon motif. A large vessel in very good antique condition. Measuring approx. 14 inches tall and 10 inches at widest point.

Chinese Chinoiserie lacquer box with scenes of temple houses and figures in landscape circa 1860. A beautifully all hand painted scene on a red lacquer background the box is made of wood and the clasp of brass. A fine example in very good antique condition.

A vintage circa 1900 miniature bronze portrait of a horse finely detailed casting artist monogram on back. Measuring approx. 4 inches tall in excellent condition.

Fine Shreve and Company Sterling Copper and Deer or Stag Antler three handle trophy loving cup. An exquisite example of mixed metal workmanship which shreve and gorham were so highly know for. Measuring approx. 5 inches tall and 7 at widest point. Monogramed with beautiful script initals in excellent condition original patina some minor bending at inside where one handle meets body.

Japanese Fukagawa Imari porcelain floral vase signed on bottom. A beautifully hand painted and colorful large example measuring approx. 12.5 inches by 9 1/4 inches wide in excellent condition no damage.

Chinese crackle glazed robins egg blue vase 19th century. A beautiful tall slender form with long neck in excellent condition a minor chip on the bottom under the foot. Measuring approx. 14 inches tall a fine example.

Sterling silver overlay porcelain tea service tea pot sugar and creamer. All in excellent condition without chips or cracks featuring a beautiful art nouveau silver overlay design. The tea pot measures approx. 8 in. by 8 in. the service is probably Lennox but it unmarked.

A beautiful Rookwood pottery vellum matte vase with a burgundy purple color and a floral type design. Artists signed and marked with the rookwood date mark for artist initialed M M. measuring approx. 7.5 inches tall in excellent condition no damage.
